Nehru Zoological Park Hyderabad
The Nehru Zoological Park, commonly known as the Hyderabad Zoo is located near Mir Alam Tank. It was established in 1959 and was opened for public on 6th October 1963.
It is named after the late prime minister of our country, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and is regulated by the forest department of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
About Hyderabad Zoo
The zoo covers an area of over 380 acres and serves as an exotic destination for all sort of excursions attracting large number of wild life lovers from all over the world. The zoo incorporates state of the art facilities such as modern display enclosures and natural habitat for animals to name a few.
It boasts of being a pioneer in successful breeding of various animals and birds like Indian Rhino, Tiger, Orangutan and Python etc. saving them from extinction and providing them with a home along with other exotic and endangered species. Presently, the zoo has more than 250 species of animals, birds and reptiles.
Miralam Tank Lake
The Miralam Tank Lake is the home of various native and migratory birds because of its unique arched bund. It is approximately two hundred years old and attracts hundreds of migratory birds every year.
The zoo provides the visitors with a chance to capture the mesmerizing beauty of the landscape through a boat ride.

The zoo also has Asiatic and African lions, panthers, jaguars and pumas hailing from North and South America who captivate the visitors by their looks and physical abilities.
You can also get a look of the endangered Indian wolves at the park along with their other canine family of jackals, foxes and hyenas.
